While COVID restrictions prevented a live performance of their annual Year 7-9 Drama Production, St Aloysius’ College has shared a video performance of the play Iñigo for others across the Jesuit community to appreciate.
The play, written by Jonathan Moore, was chosen for the annual Year 7-9 Drama Production as part of the school’s celebration of the Ignatian Year. It explores the life of St Ignatius Loyola in dramatic fashion, exploring the major moments in conversion and development of the Spiritual Exercises, as well as his struggles to establish the Society of Jesus.
The production was directed by drama teacher Ms Che Walsh-Kemp, with Year 11 students Zachary Wan and Xavier Carlile serving as assistant directors. The cast, crew and the drama department worked extremely hard to bring this production together, with much of the lead time spent in lockdown and many rehearsals taking place over video calls. Xavier MIller (Year 9) did a wonderful job in the titular role.
Although COVID restrictions prevented the play being performed in front of a live audience, the College was able to secure the services of professional videographer, Tristan Baker, from Bam Studios. The recording has been made available to the College and Jesuit communities.
