Ignis Program

An Ignatian formation program for all staff, board and council members, and volunteers in Jesuit ministries.

The Ignis program seeks to induct our companions in ministry into the basics of Ignatian spirituality and the Province’s way of proceeding.

The two Ignis programs are designed for new staff joining the Province’s works, staff appointed in recent years, current staff who may wish to undertake the program and new Board and Council members. Held in each city, with facilitators drawn from the various Province ministries, the programs introduce participants to the story of the Jesuits, and the Ignatian tradition that enlivens our work.

The Ignis One program introduces participants to the life of St Ignatius Loyola, his worldview and approach to ministry based on the Spiritual Exercises. It also gives an insight into the governance structures and works of the Society of Jesus.

The follow-up to this program is the Ignis Two program, which is open to anyone who has done Ignis One. The Ignis Two program considers the intention, rhythm and central focus of the Spiritual Exercises and the preferential option for the poor.
