Our relationship with creation this Advent season

The Advent Season of Creation series at Pray.com.au will look at the daily Scripture readings in the light of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’.

Jesuit Communications is inviting people to connect more prayerfully with creation this Advent season.

The Advent Season of Creation series at Pray.com.au will look at the daily Scripture readings in the light of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’.

The readings of Isaiah during Advent are full of realism about the world, a deep sense of God’s presence in the natural world, the conviction that relationship to God affects the whole environment and not just our hearts.

The Gospels during Advent are mostly vivid stories that show what faith in Christ is like and what the coming of Jesus means to us. They encourage us to pray for a deeper faith.

Each day, a Catholic writer will take a deeper look at these readings, and connect them to the messages in the Pope’s landmark environmental encyclical. Drawing from their own reflections and experiences, each will help people take a personal journey through Advent.

The guest writers are:

First week reflections (Monday to Saturday): Andrew Hamilton SJ

Second week reflections (Monday to Saturday): Michael McGirr

Third week reflections (Monday to Saturday): Rachel McLoughlin IBVM

Sunday and Christmas reflections: David Holdcroft SJ

Daily videos will accompany each reflection — a handy tool for those wanting to use them in prayer groups or personal prayer. You can follow the daily reflection series in a variety of ways:
