CARING FOR OUR COMMON HOME

While the Season of Creation began on 1 September (the Day of Prayer for Creation) and will end on 4 October (the Feast of St Francis), you can now use your phone or tablet to experience daily devotions in a completely interactive way, through the new Season of Creation Devotional.
Each day is a beautiful dip into creation. I start each day during the Season of Creation by opening the app with a reflection from various writers, sayings and then finishing with prayer. An added benefit is that I am also able to revisit any day that captures my heart. The pictures captured for each day are also an inspiration.

Interestingly, there is an ecological background to the development of the app, created by the Queensland Churches Environmental Network (QCEN).
The network says it “sought contributions from a wide range of people, from different denominations and backgrounds, from all over Australia. The variety gives the devotions an incredible depth. At the same time, although each devotion is different, they all manage to portray a sense of awe at the wonder of creation. The devotions remind the reader of the interconnectedness of creation, of the peace we can feel when being in nature, and the beauty that is all around us.”
The app features 34 daily devotions from 1 September to 4 October. Featuring reflections and prayers from various Christian denominations across Australia, they are intended to enhance our contemplation of God’s creation, while honouring the wisdom of the traditional custodians of the land.
