SHOWING THE WAY TO GOD
The band is rocking it, albeit in mellow style. The lead guitarist is in a checked long-sleeved shirt; the drummer is in a dark blue shirt; the vocalist is in red; the musician on the cajon, or clapbox, has long hair down to his shoulders; the patterned shirt of the bearded keyboardist offsets the lighter shirt of the man on the acoustic guitar. They’re all in dark trousers except for the drummer.
The vocalist, unencumbered by any instrument, has his hands folded with a certain focus that you could call reverence.
Then you notice the background. They’re performing in a church. The vocalist, Scholastic Romero Rezin, is also the person who wrote and composed this.
Welcome to the new single, ‘O Noble Knight’, which is composed and performed by Jesuit Scholastics and produced by De Nobili College Studios. If you’re watching the clip, you’ll notice that two-thirds of the way through, the performers are all in white cassocks.
As outlined in the promo material – such as it is – “The song honours St Ignatius of Loyola – the noble knight, pilgrim and founder of the Society of Jesus who dedicated his life to God with courage, love, and zeal. Composed by Sch Romero Rezin and team, it captures Ignatius’ inspiring legacy. From the battlefields of chivalry to the journey of faith, Ignatius’ transformation continues to inspire us as ‘soldiers of God’s Kingdom.’ This song captures his legacy, his undying fervour, and his call to all of us to dare boldly in devotion and purpose. Join us in honouring his spirit and in living Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam — For the Greater Glory of God!”
