Fr McCoy has announced, with the approval of Archbishop Peter Comensoli, the appointment of Fr Frank Brennan as the Rector of Newman College within the University of Melbourne, effective from 1st January 2020.
Fr Frank Brennan SJ will resign from the role of CEO of Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) as at 30 June 2019.
Speaking of the transition, the Provincial of the Australian Province of the Society of Jesus, Fr Brian McCoy SJ said, ‘Father Brennan has been anxious to remain CEO of CSSA for a sufficient period to put in place the long overdue restructure of Catholic Social Services Australia. That restructure is now complete and will be further consolidated in the coming months.
‘The Board of CSSA has greatly valued and appreciated Frank’s leadership and the contribution he has made and is very disappointed at his going. Nonetheless, Frank has accepted the role of Chair of the Research and Policy Panel of CSSA beyond 30 June 2019, and I am willing to endorse him in that role.
‘I am grateful that Fr Brennan has had the opportunity to serve the Australian Church in a significant role as CEO of CSSA and am confident that he will make an ongoing contribution to the Church’s place in the public square in his next mission as Rector of Newman College’, Fr. McCoy said.
