In a farewell message, Ancita D'Cunha gave thanks to her ‘Jesuit family’ for what she has learned and experienced as she worked alongside three different Provincials – Fr Mark Raper, Fr Steve Curtin and Fr Brian McCoy.

Members of the Province gathered at Power Street last Friday to farewell Ancita D’Cunha after 15 years of service to the Australian Jesuits.

‘You have helped me grow into a better person; you have taught me how to pray, have helped me believe in humanity; you have helped me develop my faith journey to unbelievable heights’, she said.

Ancita was joined at the farewell by her husband Glenn and son Aiden. She said a recent trip to Hazaribag also helped her see first-hand the work of the Jesuits in India.

‘I had this sense of pride that I knew most of the Australian Jesuits who worked there, and it touched me to see how these men have given up their families and friends in Australia to make this humble place their home.’

Ancita said she felt that her formation with the Jesuits was now complete, joking, ‘I could say tongue in cheek that perhaps I may now be considered for ordination.’

Frs Brian McCoy and Steve Curtin were joined by other Jesuits, staff and friends for the farewell, paying tribute to Ancita and wishing her well for the next stage of her journey.
