Here’s how you can join in the celebrations of the Feast of St Ignatius this year, no matter where you are.
Mass
The Parish of Our Lady of the Way will be holding its Feast Day Celebration at 12 noon on Friday 31 July, with all members of the parish invited to Mass. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, bookings are required. You can book here: https://www.trybooking.com/eventlist/olw
For those unable to celebrate Mass in person, St Ignatius Parish in Toowong has recorded its St Ignatius Feast Day Mass and made it available to communities ahead of the feast itself. The recording incorporates a vignette of Ignatius’ life, and a choral performance by students from St Ignatius Primary School, Toowong. You can find the Mass at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9oRMAx209c&feature=youtu.be
Spirituality
Jesuit Mission has recorded a First Spiritual Exercises video meditation for the feast day.
The video invites people to meditate on the prayer of Accepting Comfort. For St Ignatius, one of the most important graces he prayed for was the grace of consolation, which is closely linked to comfort. Also, during this difficult time of the global pandemic, we ask for God’s grace to bring comfort to all those suffering from the effect of COVID-19.
You can find a recording of the prayer here: https://youtu.be/0k4Mtcknn2Y
Throughout this week we will reflect on the life and legacy of Ignatius on our Facebook page. We want to rediscover the impact of St Ignatius on our world and society. Leading up to the feast day we will explore Ignatius’ spirituality, education, community and mission. Make sure you follow the Australian Jesuits on Facebook.
